Sholing Philippines Project

The Sholing Technology College in Southampton is continuing its close association with Hedge End based charity, the Philippine Community Fund (PCF). In February 2012, 28 students and 10 staff travelled to Manila to help improve the quality of life of some of the most disadvantaged people in the world.

They followed in the footsteps of a team of students and staff who travelled to Manila in February 2010 where they built a state of the art playground at PCF’s new “container school” in Tondo. The team also embarked on a painting programme at the new school, rebuilt a shanty home on the dumpsite and helped in a feeding programme for malnourished children.

You can see what they got up to and achieved in the blogs and videos below.

We worked with the Philippine Community Fund
a small charity that is working to improve the lives
of Manila’s poorest people. To find out more,

We are collecting ring pulls to support PCF’s livelihood programme. People who would otherwise be picking litter on the dumpsite can work with PCF to turn these into designer bags to sell in the UK. [link]

So far we have collected

1 Million!

ring pulls

and would be delighted to receive more!
