Sholing Campus Philippines Project
Students and staff from several Southampton schools and colleges travelled to the Philippines in February 2010, to work with the Hedge End based Philippine Community Fund, a charity who are working to improve the quality of life for the poorest Filipino communities.
The team of 39 students and staff assisted PCF with the construction of their new school, built from 78 redundant shipping containers, which hopes to educate every child currently working on Manila’s infamous pier 18 dumpsite. The team also built a playground, painted and decorated the new building and working with the children and their families in their classrooms and the community.
